In order to deliver products beneficial to customers and society, the Nikon Group considers minimizing impacts on the environment, as well as the safety, functionality, performance, and reliability of products and services, to be included in the concept of "Quality."
It has established and implements a Quality Control Directive (QCD) as a standard for everyday production and related activities seeking to achieve further improvements in "Quality."
Lecture on Quality attended by staff from partner companies as well as Nikon Group employees.
With regard to quality, which is the most fundamental component of improving customer satisfaction, the Nikon Group's corporate objective is "to provide the world with the latest and highest-quality products and services to contribute to the lives and cultures of people worldwide, using the outstanding technological capabilities of Nikon." To achieve this objective, the Quality Control Directive (QCD) has been established as a set of basic regulations for quality control, and information on basic policies and practical operations is conveyed far and wide throughout the entire Group.
The QCD is made available to all related personnel via the intranet and in booklets. This makes it possible for each and every member of the Nikon Group to use the QCD as a guide for his or her actions, with a constant awareness of Nikon's concept of quality. In addition, through efforts such as holding periodic quality-control courses and seminars for personnel including those of partner companies, led by instructors from both inside and outside the group, Nikon endeavors to maintain uniform quality levels at all times.
Inspection and verification of the status of quality control activities at Nikon Group companies are conducted regularly. Information acquired is then properly assessed with the aim of improving both quality and efficiency.
Nikon strives to enhance its Quality Control Directive. In the current fiscal year, the frequency of audits has been further increased.
Quality Control Audits are conducted by the Chairman of the Quality Control Principle and by the auditor of each department. When shortcomings are detected, corrections and improvements are indicated and, if necessary, the Quality Control Directive is revised. Important matters are reported to the Executive Committee and can lead to changes in internal controls.
