Each Committee Works to Realize CSR the Nikon Way

To promote the achievement of its CSR aims in a more effective manner, the Nikon Group has established a CSR Committee and other related committees to promote the permeation and thorough enforcement of CSR throughout the Group.

CSR Committee

Past activities related to CSR, such as environmental protection and social contribution activities, were implemented chiefly by the relevant individual committees. However, to promote these activities in a comprehensive and integrated manner, in January 2006 we established the CSR Committee. With appointment of the President as the Chief, the CSR Committee's membership consists of Standing Directors and the heads of CSR-related departments. Seven subcommittees under the CSR Committee - the Integrated Disaster Prevention and BCM Committee, the Risk Management Committee, the Safety and Health Committee, the Social Contribution Committee, the Environmental Committee, the Export Control Committee, and the Business Conduct Committee - are in charge of promoting CSR activities.

To promote its CSR activities even more strongly, the CSR Committee works in cooperation with its subcommittees to implement proactive efforts such as global development of CSR activities and establishment of a plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle for CSR.

Committee Activities

  • CSR-relevant discussions and policy making
  • Review of business activities related to CSR
  • Deliberation and decision-making on required measures based on the results of inspection
  • Formulation of various activity plans for cultivating awareness in connection with promotion of CSR
