Photographs have truly become a part of our daily lives. With the aim of "enhancing and enriching the enjoyment of photographs," Nikon is engaged in activities contributing to photographic culture such as operation of the "Nikkor Club," a place for information exchange between camera lovers and provision of opportunities for many lovers of photography to show their works. Nikon will continue to strive in pursuit of new photographic potential and the creation of photographic culture.
Photographic exhibition at a Nikon Salon
With the aim of popularizing and advancing photographic culture, these permanent exhibition spaces were opened in 1968 to display outstanding photographic works by both amateurs and professionals in a wide range of fields.
Various activities related to photography are conducted at the 3 galleries -in Ginza and Shinjuku in Tokyo, and in Osaka. In the past fiscal year there were 82 exhibitions by individual photographers and 32 arranged by groups.
Photo tour in Bali
The Nikkor Club aims to provide opportunities for interaction by Nikon camera users. Various activities such as photographing events, photo seminars, photo competitions and so forth are held in order to improve photographic culture.
Digital camera workshop for grade-schoolers
The Digital Camera Volunteer Association was set up to enable anyone to enjoy photography and experiment with new forms of visual expression; it is run by former Nikon employees and citizens of Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo. Nikon sponsors the activities of the association and provides support through the loan of camera equipment.
The association has held digital camera workshops for grade-schoolers and separately for middle-aged and elderly audiences. In the past fiscal year, however, this program was expanded to nursing homes for the aged, where it proved to be a great success.
