The winner of the competition will qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup in December.
The club teams taking part in this competition are from the following countries:
UAE, Iran, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, China, Korea Republic, Thailand, Australia, Japan
Nikon is supporting this competition as the official sponsor. Nikon logos are visible around the pitch at all matches as well as on photographers' bibs. Furthermore, Nikon operates a service depot at the stadiums to provide support such as camera maintenance and equipment rental for accredited photographers.
AFC Champions League matches are televised in many countries but concentrated in Asia.
Nikon is also a proud sponsor of the AFC Cup, which started at the same time as the AFC Champions League. This annual international competition involves thirty-two (32) clubs from AFC-affiliated nations ranked outside of the top fourteen Asian countries. The AFC Cup winner will have an opportunity to compete in the qualifier of the following year's AFC Champions League.
