The photographer Feng Xue-Min has taken countless photographs of landscapes and people with the “origins” of Chinese culture as his theme. The scenery of this unexplored region, Tibet was photographed between the years 2003 and 2007.
In these works, he vividly portrayed the vast realm of nature and the Tibetan people who tenaciously live their humble lives in its midst.

At the End of my Visit to Tibet: “Explore the Unexplored” Tibet has undergone further changes since my first visit during the summer of 2003. In the midst of the whirling rush of growth, the traffic environment has been organized and a railroad was established in the capital, Lhasa in 2006, making the place accessible to tourists from all over the world. Just like the last time I visited, I was a little concerned that “the need of the people for convenience might lead to the loss of the culture and spirit that has been nurtured over long years of history.” However, once I got away from the city, I encountered the overwhelming world of nature that remained untouched by these changes and the people tenaciously living rich lives with humility in its midst.
My journeys in search of the origins of Chinese culture will continue and I will use my viewfinder to show the people, the world of nature and the various scenes I encounter on the way in terms of the “blue” that represents mystery and the “red” that represents warmth.
