Nikon is an official supporter of soccer events held by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
This year, Nikon launched the “AFC Champions League & Nikon Field Photographer Program,” a CSR program that offers local families the chance to enjoy football through photography.
During the AFC Champions League (ACL) 2008, a competition to decide the top Asian club, three sets of parents and children living locally are being invited to selected games and given the opportunity to photograph the players on the pitch before the games start. Those invited get to wear professional photographer bibs and shoot with Nikon D60 digital SLR cameras for the duration of the event.

The first “AFC Champions League & Nikon Field Photographer Program” events were held on May 7 in China and Thailand. The second such events took place on May 21 in Australia and Korea.
The children involved showed great interest in their first-time digital camera experience and shot many pictures, with some commenting on what a great experience it is to take photos themselves. Others said how they hoped to participate in similar meaningful activities.
Nikon will maintain its involvement with Asian football through this CSR program. The AFC Champions League & Nikon Field Photographer Program will continue through to the ACL 2008 knockout stage and the Nikon supported 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers hosted by the AFC will also feature Field Photographer Program events.
