Introducing Nikon Spotting Scope "Spotter XL" : A New Roof (Dach) Type Spotting Scope

Jul. 1998

Spotter XL

Nikon is pleased to announce the introduction of the New Roof (Dach) type Nikon Spotting scope "Spotter XL".

It featurers a wide range of zoom magnification of 16 - 47× suitable for hunting and outdoor activities.
Filled with nitorogen (N2) gas and sealed with O-rings, it is a fully water-proof construction.
Optically, most expensive "phase correction coating" is applied to the surface of the internal roof (dach) prism to provide super resolution, and "multilayer coatings" to the lenses for bright image.

Major features

Lightweight and compact

The "Spotter XL" employs a roof (dach) prism arrangement to ensure compact, lightweight (751 g / 26.5 oz.) portability.

Rubber-coated design

The"Spotter XL" rubber-coated design makes it shock-resistant and enhances its reliability.

Waterproof, fog-proof construction

The "Spotter XL" filled with nitrogen (N2) gas and sealed with O-rings to secure a fully water-proof construction that remains free from fogging in even the most severe weather conditions.
It's the ideal outdoor companion for all seasons.

Powerful 16 - 47 × zoom

The "Spotter XL" offers a broader zoom range than most other models on the market, which range from 15 or 20 to 45 × .

Phase correction coatings

A special coating applied to the surface of the internal roof (dach) prism.
This phase coating corrects the phase difference to eliminate virtually all light interference and provide superior resolution.

Multilayer coatings

To prevent light reflections at the glass surface, Nikon applies layer upon layer of special anti-reflective coating to the lens.
This process offers three (3) important advantages : 1.) it virtually eliminates ghost images and flare ; 2.) it improves color rendition ; and 3.) it ensures a bright field of view even in low-light conditions.
