TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the COOLPIX 2000 Digital Camera on May 29, 2002.
A compact digital still camera with 2.0 effective megapixels, the COOLPIX 2000 is the most accessible model of the COOLPIX digital camera lineup. The extremely easy-to-use COOLPIX 2000 is designed to offer digital novices an ideal introduction to digital photography.
The camera’s core users are people who have found the prospect of digital photography intimidating, but have a keen interest in exploring the various applications it offers, such as printing, e-mailing, online photosharing, and more. Such users will find the COOLPIX 2000 an easy and enjoyable way to make the jump into the exciting world of digital imaging.
Featuring a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens, with a 5.8-17.4mm (equivalent to 38-114mm in 35mm [135] camera format) focal range and 2.5x digital zoom, the Nikon COOLPIX 2000 delivers exceptional optical performance, and together with the 2.0 effective megapixels, ensures images with impressive color, contrast and clarity.
The simplified, ergonomic design of the COOLPIX 2000 makes it easier than ever to enjoy the benefits of digital photography. Auto mode is ideal for most photo-shooting situations. With the camera’s 5 Scene Modes, even beginning digital photographers can shoot with the confidence that they will get optimal image results for a range of situations.
The Transfer function simplifies image data uploading, and the Small Picture function produces reduced-size pictures ideal for e-mailing or Web posting.
The COOLPIX 2000 comes with some essential accessories -- including an 8MB CompactFlash™ card, USB cable, video cable, four AA-type alkaline batteries and Nikon View 5 software. The optional LCD Hood HL-CP11 increases LCD monitor visibility when shooting in daylight.

The COOLPIX 2000 is designed to make it easy for anyone to enjoy digital photography. The camera body is compact (approx. 108 x 69 x 38mm/4.3 x 2.7 x 1.5 in.) and lightweight (190 g/6.7 oz.), and the large Mode Dial and ergonomically arranged buttons make operation truly simple. The Transfer button enables one-touch data upload and the Small Picture function automatically creates a reduced-size picture for e-mail and Internet applications. The COOLPIX 2000 makes all aspects of digital photography easy and enjoyable.
The COOLPIX 2000 features a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range of 5.8-17.4mm (equivalent to 38-114mm in 35mm [135] camera format) to deliver sharp images of near or distant subjects. The camera’s 2.0 effective megapixels deliver high-definition 1,632 x 1,224-pixel images with impressive clarity and expression. Furthermore, Nikon’s proven advanced image-processing algorithm delivers remarkably authentic color reproduction.
The COOLPIX 2000's Auto mode and 5 programmed Scene Modes make it easy to capture optimal image results for a wide variety of situations. Even a beginner can take great images simply by choosing the appropriate mode for the next picture. Continuous shooting mode enables users to take several consecutive full-sized images in just seconds, while Movie recording mode provides up to 20 seconds of recording time (without audio).

A simple press of the Quick Review button allows users to see their photos without having to switch between modes.
