A stylish and simple-to-use digital still camera featuring 2.0 effective megapixels, the COOLPIX 2500 is a strategic product designed to penetrate and lead the largest and most competitive digital camera market -- the 2-megapixel model sector. This uniquely designed camera will also establish a new COOLPIX brand image that places emphasis on the stylish and fun aspects of the COOLPIX line.
The camera’s core users extend across generations to include those seeking a stylish, easy-to-use digital camera that offers excellent portability and superior image quality, and who are also looking for greater fun in digital photography.
Featuring a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens, with a 5.6-16.8mm (equivalent to 37-111mm in 35mm [135] camera format) focal range and 4x digital zoom, the Nikon COOLPIX 2500 delivers exceptional optical performance, and together with the 2.0 effective megapixels, ensures images of remarkable color, contrast and clarity.
The stylish and unique inner-swivel lens design offers the fun and flexibility of free-angle picture taking, while the camera’s flat surface and newly developed compact rechargeable battery ensure excellent portability. The COOLPIX 2500 features ergonomic button arrangement for easy operation.
Auto mode is ideal for most photo-shooting situations, and manual mode allows photographers the freedom to select camera settings as they like. The camera’s 12 Scene Modes further enhance the flexibility and creativity of shooting and provide optimal image results for a range of situations.
The Transfer function simplifies image data uploading and the Small Picture function produces reduced-size pictures ideal for e-mailing or Web posting.

The COOLPIX 2500’s unique inner-swivel lens design enables easy, versatile shooting capability from different angles. The camera is also small and light (165g/5.8 oz.), and with the lens retracted, its flat, sleek form fits easily into one’s pocket or handbag. Its ergonomic, easy-to-use buttons ensure easy, swift and intuitive operation.
The COOLPIX 2500 features a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range of 5.6-16.8mm (equivalent to 37-111mm in 35mm [135] camera format) to deliver sharp images of near or distant subjects. The camera’s 2.0 effective megapixels deliver high-definition 1,600 x 1,200-pixel images of exceptional clarity and expression. Furthermore, Nikon’s proven advanced image-processing algorithm delivers remarkably authentic color reproduction.
The COOLPIX 2500's Auto mode and 12 programmed Scene Modes make it easy to capture optimal image results for a wide variety of situations. Even a novice photographer can take great images simply by choosing the appropriate mode for the next picture. Continuous shooting mode enables users to take several consecutive full-sized images in just seconds. Movie recording mode provides up to 15 seconds of recording time.

The COOLPIX 2500’s Transfer function enables easy one-touch data upload* via the USB cable. This automatically transfers selected pictures in the COOLPIX 2500 straight to the user’s computer.

The Small Picture function automatically creates an image size just right for e-mailing or Web posting.
