TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the COOLPIX 3500 Digital Camera.
The COOLPIX 3500 is a 3-megapixel-class digital still camera with a unique inner-swivel lens designed to make digital photography stylish, fun and easy. The camera is the companion to the 2-megapixel-class COOLPIX 2500, released earlier this year, and is distinguished by a new sophisticated gray color scheme, higher resolution and technical advances for superior image quality.
The COOLPIX 3500 is designed to appeal to style-conscious consumers who want a highly portable, easy-to-use digital still camera that will capture the fun and special moments of their lives, and create a wide range of photo-taking opportunities.
Featuring a 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and 4x digital zoom, the COOLPIX 3500 provides excellent optical performance and the assurance of Nikons advanced image processing technology for vibrant color, contrast and clarity. The cameras 3.2 effective megapixels offer resolution suitable for screen, album and framed printouts up to A4 size.
The COOLPIX 3500s inner-swivel lens design offers the fun and flexibility of free-angle picture-taking and protects the lens when not in use. The cameras sleek shape allows it to fit easily in a pocket or bag. The slim, rechargeable battery (provided), key to the COOLPIX 3500s compactness, enables up to 80 minutes of shooting power per charge.
The cameras quick start-up and automatic mode are designed to capture images in spur-of-the-moment or rushed shooting scenarios. In addition to fully automatic operation, the COOLPIX 3500 provides 12 versatile Scene Modes that ensure success by pre-configuring the camera for more demanding, specific situations. For action sequences, Continuous Shooting mode offers rapid-fire successive picture taking and Movie mode provides 35-second video clips. The 3500 inherits the versatility of the COOLPIX series with a close-up focus distance of just 4cm (1.6 in.) and a built-in flash that adds back-up when available light is low.
One-button digital convenience comes in the form of the Quick Review Button, which instantly displays a miniature review in the corner of the LCD monitor while maintaining a full-screen live-action view. A second press zooms the review picture to full size; a press of the shutter release returns the camera to shooting mode. For easy transfer to a computer, the on-camera Transfer Button (also selectable in Nikon Software) simplifies image data uploading; the Small Picture function creates reduced-size copies in-camera that are ideal for e-mailing or Web posting.
The COOLPIX 3500 comes with all essential accessories, including the compact rechargeable battery and charger, CompactFlash Card, USB cable, and Nikon View 5 software.
With its array of features and accessories and innovative design, the cool-gray COOLPIX 3500 is an exciting addition to the COOLPIX lineup that will increase the fun and pleasure of digital photography for the young and young-at-heart.
Note: Specifications, design, product name and standard accessories may differ by country or area.
The COOLPIX 3500 is identified by a sophisticated gray color and unique inner-swivel lens design that allows shooting from nearly any angle. Its ergonomically situated controls are always within easy reach. With the lens retracted snugly into the body, the cameras slim shape makes it easy to carry anywhere.
The cameras 1/2.7-in. type CCD employs 3.2 effective megapixels to produce ultrahigh-definition 2,048 x 1,536-pixel images. Its 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens -- featuring a 5.6-16.8mm focal range (equivalent to 37-111mm in 35mm [135] camera format) -- and Nikons advanced image-processing algorithm ensure exceptional color and image sharpness for clear, vibrant images on screen, online and in prints at up to A4 size.
The general-purpose Auto mode and 12 Scene Modes make getting great shots easy -- even for digital beginners. Just select the mode for the scene, and the COOLPIX 3500 will handle all the adjustments automatically. Movie mode (without audio) records video clips of up to 35 seconds in duration.

Sunset
Captures the natural beauty of sunsets.
Night Landscape

Museum*
Produces clear indoor pictures without triggering the flash.
* Note: In some museums and exhibitions, photography is prohibited, even without flash. Be sure to obtain permission before taking any pictures.
Fireworks Show
Priority is given to rapid-reaction shutter release to capture fireworks at the ideal moment.
Close Up
Takes up-close pictures (up to 4cm/1.6 in.) with an artistically blurred background.
Copy
Renders clear black and white reproductions of text or drawings from a whiteboard or printed matter.
Back Light
Fires the flash automatically to brighten areas of interest that are darkened by shadows cast by light originating from behind the subject.
The COOLPIX 3500 makes sending images to a computer simple. Just connect the camera to a computer with the supplied USB cable and press the on-camera Transfer Button. Pictures are automatically copied to the computer where Nikon View 5 software (supplied) is ready to help you view, sort and organize them.
The supplied Nikon View 5 software turns a computer into a photo-album, print station, e-mail depot, slide show, and negative storage box. Designed with convenience in mind, Nikon View software helps everyone take full advantage of digital photography and the enjoyment it can bring to life.
*Depending on the country or area, the battery and charger may not be included, but will be available as options.
**"Exif Print" is the industrial term for Exif 2.2, which is a newly established standard for Digital Still Camera Image File Format.
