We are pleased to announce that Nikon Corporation (President: Michio KARIYA) has completed its integration of ISO 14001 certification for the head office and all domestic plants. Nikon has also implemented an environment-friendly management policy through a company-wide environmental management system (EMS), designing the structure to effectively and efficiently undertake EMS activities company-wide.
Last October, the Ohi (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) and Yokohama (Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa) plants acquired joint certification. Then in June of this year, the Mito plant (Mito-shi, Ibaraki) was integrated, with the head office (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and Sagamihara (Sagamihara-shi, Kanagawa) and Kumagaya (Kumagaya-shi, Saitama) plants following in September.
In many cases, the recent environmental developments have gone well beyond the border of each office and into others. Recent examples include the development of energy-saving products, as well as the compliance with the harmful chemical substance regulations set forth by the RoHS directive enacted in the EU regarding the electric and electronic instruments. Moreover, the acquisition of company-wide integration of ISO 14001 certification has made more controlled and efficient activities easier to implement.

Specific Benefits of Integration
In the future, we will broaden our EMS implementation activities from the five major manufacturing subsidiaries in Japan*, and by fiscal 2006, achieve group-wide integration. We will further promote EMS implementation activities, focusing on system integration of other offices in Japan and overseas. Moreover, we will start reviewing system integration of ISO14001 and ISO9001 (quality management system).
