The Nikon Group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) makes its corporate philosophy of “Trustworthiness and Creativity” a reality through its business activities and contributes to the sustainable development of society.
CSR Priority Issues
In order to ensure the efficient, steady implementation of CSR measures, the Nikon Group identifies CSR Priority Issues to focus on. We set targets for each issue, and manage and implement CSR activities on a Group-wide basis.
The Nikon Group has selected 11 CSR Priority Issues in 3 Areas. Particularly in the area of “Contributing to Society through Business Activities,” we are aiming to ensure that the Nikon Group's commitment to “Unlock the future with the power of light,” which is embodied in Our Vision, is reflected in our CSR activities.
The Nikon Group links our CSR Priority Issues with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we aim to contribute to the realization of the SDGs and their individual targets through our CSR measures.
Global CSR Promotion System
We aim to advance uniform and consistent sustainability initiatives across the Nikon Group, taking into account the characteristics of each region, including culture, customs and language. To achieve this goal, we have divided the geographic areas where we operate into five regions (excluding Japan). The CSR Committees consisting of Group company presidents have been established in each region, and CSR Communication Meetings are held, with the participants comprising the CSR coordinators of each company.
Nikon Code of Conduct and UN Global Compact
The Nikon Group has established the Nikon Code of Conduct, which embodies Nikon's basic approach to CSR and the standards that employees are expected to meet in their day-to-day operations.
Nikon supports the UN Global Compact. We respect the Global Compact's ten principles covering the four areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
