President Message

Aiming for new value
in a new era

Since its founding in 1917, Nikon has spent over a century seeking to unleash the limitless possibilities of opto-electronics and precision technologies while providing various products and services with the goal of contributing to society as well as to technological and cultural development.

Nikon has now reached a major turning point and is making drastic changes for the future. In our existing businesses starting with our Imaging Products Business, we are striving to improve profitability by accurately grasping the needs of society and our customers, thus providing innovative services and solutions rather than relying on conventional hardware sales. We are also focusing on transforming new businesses, especially the Material Processing Business, into one of our main pillars by providing new products and services while creating synergy with existing products.

We are making steady progress toward the goal of establishing a foundation for growth over the medium/long term that we set in our Medium-Term Management Plan. We are also strongly determined to advance various measures to swiftly reach our goal of ROE of 8% or more.

The business environment remains challenging due to the lingering effects of COVID-19 and other factors. To overcome this difficult situation, we will mobilize all our efforts and deepen cooperation between business units so that we can respond promptly and flexibly to the era of a "new normal."

Nikon's corporate philosophy is "Trustworthiness and Creativity."
Based on this enduring principle, we will continue to provide the innovative products and services centered on opto-electronics and precision technologies that are sought by our customers and society while contributing to a prosperous future for people around the world.
