Nikon Europe B.V. (Netherlands) works with The Ocean Movement, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to tackling marine plastic pollution. Through this partnership, the company supports research and awareness activities by leveraging Nikon optical and imaging technologies.

As part of these efforts, Nikon Europe B.V. donated a high-performance SMZ745 stereomicroscope. The SMZ745 enables three-dimensional, high-resolution observation of samples, helping researchers visualize and classify microscopic plastic particles in seawater and collected samples and improve analytical accuracy. The microscope enables The Ocean Movement to collect more reliable data through citizen science research and build scientific knowledge to better understand the extent of marine pollution.
Representatives from Nikon Europe B.V. attended a ceremony marking the donation of the SMZ745 in May 2026. Participants observed microplastics firsthand and deepened their understanding of marine environmental issues. These initiatives extend beyond providing technology by also raising environmental awareness among employees and supporting awareness efforts both within and outside the company.
