August 15, 2019

TOKYO - Nikon Corporation (Nikon) is pleased to announce that its full-frame mirrorless camera, the Nikon Z 6, and its high-performance standard zoom lens, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S, are the recipients of the EISA Camera of the Year 2019-2020 and the EISA Professional Standard Zoom Lens 2019-2020 awards, presented by the Expert Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

About the Nikon Z 6

The Nikon Z 6 (released in November 2018) is a full-frame (Nikon FX format) mirrorless camera for which the Nikon Z mount was adopted. It is equipped with a backside illumination Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor with built-in focal-plane phase-detection AF pixels. It has an effective pixel count of 24.5 megapixels, and supports an incredible ISO 100-51200*1 range of standard sensitivities. It is also equipped with the new EXPEED 6 image-processing engine, which enables extremely sharp and clear rendering. In addition, the Z 6 utilizes a new hybrid AF system with 273*2 focus points that provide good coverage of the imaging area — approximately 90% both horizontally and vertically — for quick and accurate focusing well-suited to a variety of conditions. With additional support for full-frame 4K UHD movie recording with which data from all pixels in the frame is read out, the Z 6 is an all-round camera that responds to a wide variety of needs.

  • *1ISO sensitivity can be expanded down to the equivalent of ISO 50 and up to the equivalent of ISO 204800.
  • *2With recording of still images using the FX (36x24) image area and single-point AF.

Reasons the Nikon Z 6 was selected as the EISA Camera of the Year 2019-2020 (EISA comments)

With the Z 6 (released in November 2018), Nikon has made a superb camera with sensational handling and robust build quality that delivers excellent images in almost any shooting situation. Its autofocus system includes Eye-Detection AF, allowing accurate focus wherever the subject is placed in the frame. The large and sharp electronic viewfinder provides a truly accurate preview of how your images will turn out, while in-body image stabilization helps keep your pictures sharp with every lens you can use, including F-mount DSLR optics. Quite simply, this is the best all-round camera that serious photographers can buy right now.

About the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S

The Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S (released in April 2019) is a high-performance standard zoom lens for full-frame (Nikon FX-format) mirrorless cameras equipped with the Nikon Z mount. When used with a full-frame (FX-format) camera, the lens covers a convenient standard zoom range that begins at the wide-angle 24 mm and ends at the mid-telephoto 70 mm, all with a constant fast (bright) maximum aperture of f/2.8. The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S demonstrates superior resolving power that maximizes the potential of high-pixel-count digital cameras, and its f/2.8 maximum aperture realizes large and beautifully natural bokeh. It captures images that exhibit superior rendering performance regardless of the scene, from portraits to landscapes. In addition, the combination of the large-diameter (inner diameter of 55 mm) Z mount and the 16 mm flange focal distance achieves superior optical performance in a smaller and lighter package. What's more, reduction of the changes in angle of view that occur with focus breathing and quieter operation ensure a level of performance that is also advantageous with movie recording.

Reasons the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S was selected as the EISA Professional Standard Zoom Lens 2019-2020 (EISA comments)

The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S (released in April 2019) is a fast, professional standard zoom lens for the Nikon Z mount system. Solid and robust, it employs Nano Crystal Coat and the new ARNEO Coat to reduce flare and ghosting, while the front and rear elements have a fluorine coating to repel dust, oil and moisture. Thanks to a customizable control ring the photographer can easily adjust the aperture or exposure compensation, while an OLED panel on the barrel displays aperture, focus distance or focal length. With stunning optical performance that combines high resolution and attractive bokeh, this lens is the perfect partner for the Nikon Z series.
