Two fast, fixed focal length lenses compatible with the Nikon FX format
Introducing the 35mm wide-angle fixed focal length lens with a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4, the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G, and the AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II, a fast telephoto lens equipped with Nikon's latest vibration reduction function, VR II

TOKYO – Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of two new lenses that expand the lineup of fixed focal length lenses for Nikon FX-format digital-SLR cameras, the wide-angle AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G and the telephoto AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II. Both lenses offer a fast maximum aperture that responds to the needs of professional and advanced amateur photographers.

The AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G follows the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED (released in March 2010) as a fast, f/1.4 maximum aperture fixed focal length lens for superior image quality. It offers the superior rendering characteristics possible only with the latest fast fixed focal length NIKKOR lenses with both excellent resolution and natural blur characteristics at the maximum aperture. Adoption of a new optical design that makes the most of superior rendering characteristics with Nano Crystal Coat and compensation for various types of aberration makes the lens perfectly suited to scenes such as landscapes, night landscapes and photos of the night sky in which distortion-free, sharp, natural rendering from infinity to close up is a must. In addition, the new and improved manual focus drive mechanism reduces manual focus time lag for overwhelmingly improved manual focus operation in M/A mode.

The AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II reinforces the lineup of fast telephoto lenses for Nikon FX-format digital-SLR cameras with the latest vibration reduction function, VR II, which reduces the effects of camera shake equivalent to a four-step increase in shutter speed, and adoption of Nano Crystal Coat, which effectively reduces ghost and flare. The benefits of adoption of ED lens elements and one Super ED lens element, which effectively compensate for chromatic aberration, and the Silent Wave Motor (SWM) can be clearly seen in results achieved with shooting in dimly lit situations such as indoor sporting events or at the theater.

Nikon's development of the FX format, including D3-series and D700 digital-SLR cameras, has received tremendous support from professional and advanced amateur photographers. These two new lenses, along with the FX-format compatible AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G, AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR announced in August 2010, increase the options available to users striving for more advanced shooting and greater power of expression. Nikon intends to expand and strengthen the NIKKOR lineup with the steady release of new, high-performance lenses compatible with the FX format.

AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G Primary Features

AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G

A fast, wide-angle 35 mm fixed focal length lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.4

In addition to the superior resolution and natural blur characteristics possible at the maximum aperture, the benefits of the superior compensation of various forms of aberration, including flare and coma, enabled by the new optical design are best seen in the excellent performance exhibited with capture of night landscapes and night skies.

Nano Crystal Coat significantly reduces ghost and flare

Equipped with two focus modes, M/A and M, as well as a new and improved manual focus drive mechanism

The lens offers two focus modes, M/A (autofocus with manual override) and M (manual). In addition, the new and improved manual focus drive mechanism reduces manual focus time lag for improved manual focus operation in M/A mode.

Equipped with a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for extremely quiet autofocusing

AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II Primary Features

AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II

A fast, telephoto 200 mm fixed focal length lens with a maximum aperture of f/2

Adoption of the 200mm fixed focal length and maximum aperture of f/2 make this lens perfectly suited to capture of rapidly moving subjects in dimly lit situations such as indoor sporting or theater events. When Nikon AF-S teleconverters (three available) such as the AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III are used, a variety of focal lengths are possible without sacrificing the superior optical performance of the lens.

Built-in vibration reduction (VR II) offering camera shake compensation equivalent to a shutter speed increase of approximately four steps

Nikon's latest vibration reduction function, VR II, has been adopted to make the most of telephoto shooting. Equipped with two VR modes, Normal and Active, the vibration reduction function responds to a variety of shooting scenes.

Equipped with three focus modes, M/A (autofocus with manual override, MF priority), M (manual) and A/M (autofocus with manual override, AF priority)

Nano Crystal Coat adopted to significantly reduce ghost and flare

Constructed with 3 ED and 1 Super ED lens elements

Three ED lens elements provide superior compensation for chromatic aberration and an additional Super ED lens element provides excellent compensation for other types of aberration.

Nikon's internal focusing (IF) system has been adopted for no increase in the length of the lens with focusing

Equipped with a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for extremely quiet autofocusing
