In 2013, Nikon celebrated the 80th anniversary of the release of its first NIKKOR photographic lens with a number of activities promoting the appeal of NIKKOR lenses and the enjoyment of photographic imaging. One of these activities was the creation of the Eyes of Nikon* (published by D.D.WAVE Co., Ltd.) photo collection, a project that best exemplifies the NIKKOR brand. Eyes of Nikon is based on the theme, "ART meets TECHNOLOGY makes HISTORY", and is a collection of photos with which 40 NIKKOR lenses were used by photographers active around the world who aimed for the ultimate in quality to express the world of photographic art. In addition to photos captured with Nikon digital SLR cameras and NIKKOR lenses, Eyes of Nikon also incorporates explanations of NIKKOR lenses by the developers themselves, as well as the history, background, intent, and optical technologies behind the design and development of those lenses, making it a comprehensive guide to the appeal and advantages of NIKKOR lenses.
