Environmental Actions
at Business Facilities
The Nikon Group engages in a wide range of environmental activities at our business facilities to help preserve biodiversity and protect natural ecosystems in surrounding communities. These efforts include cleanup and beautification efforts, as well as initiatives to protect rare plant and animal species.

Miyagi Nikon Precision Co., Ltd.
Collaborating with Local Companiesthrough the Shiroishi-Zao Eco Forum

Miyagi Nikon Precision Co., Ltd. has participated in the Shiroishi-Zao Eco Forum since its inception. This forum brings together ISO-certified environmental companies in the region to encourage mutual cooperation and contribute to local communities through various environmental activities.

Participating in Earth Hour,the World’s Largest Lights-Out Event

Earth Hour is a global environmental initiative organized by WWF in which people across the world switch off their lights at the same time to express their commitment to protecting the planet. The Nikon Groups has participated in Earth Hour since 2010.

Nikon Head Office District
We conducted 2024 Zero Waste Campaign in May 2024. Employees divided into four groups to clean the area surrounding the Nikon Head Office.

Nikon Yokohama Plant
Nikon Yokohama Plant held cleanup activities around the plant as a registered Hama Road Supporter business in May and November 2024. The plant also planted and managed flower seedlings in roadside planting strips (flower beds).
Other efforts: Collected plastic bottle caps, sponsored Eco Kids Action 2024*, participated in the Bellmark campaign
- *Proceeds were donated via the Japan Association for the UN World Food Programme to support environmental conservation outside Japan

Nikon Sagamihara Plant
The Sagamihara Plant carried out cleanup activities in three designated zones around the plant in November 2024 and March 2025.
Other efforts: Participated in the Sagamihara Environmental Fair, river biodiversity surveys, summer environmental education programs, nature watching events, and birdwatching sessions as a member of the Sagamihara Association for Environmental Improvement

Nikon Mito Plant
The Mito Plant conducted cleanup activities around plant facilities and the nearby Ishikawa River watershed in December 2024 as a registered business under the Hinuma Watershed Clean Operation.
Other efforts: Exhibited at the Mito City Environmental Fair 2024, participated in the Hinuma Watershed Watching event, sponsored the Nikon Prize in the Hinuma Photo Contest

Nikon Yokosuka Plant
The Yokusuka Plant cleaned sidewalks near the front gate, parks, and sidewalks along national highways around the plant in May and November 2024.
Other efforts: Donated collected plastic bottle caps

Tochigi Nikon Corporation and Tochigi Nikon Precision Co., Ltd.
These organizations held cleanup activities in the vicinity of each facility, and collaborated with a Tochigi Prefecture government-sponsored association for cleaning up the Naka River between May and November 2024.
Other efforts: Participated in the Vaccine Cap Campaign

Sendai Nikon Corporation
Sendai Nikon Corporation carried out cleanup activities along the road from the nearest station to the office and in surrounding areas in July and November 2024.
Other efforts: Participated in the Taihaku-Natori-Iwanuma Eco Forum*
- *A platform for nearby and industry-related offices to exchange information on environmental initiatives, including the waste 3Rs and energy conservation

Nanjing Nikon Jiangnan Optical Instrument Co., Ltd. (China)
Nanjing Nikon Jiangnan Optical Instrument Co., Ltd. conducted area-wide cleanup activities by department in November 2024.

Hikari Glass (Changzhou) Optics Co., Ltd. (China)
Hikari Glass (Changzhou) Optics Co., Ltd. held cleanup activities around the factory in October 2024.

Nikon (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Thailand)
Nikon (Thailand) Co., Ltd. held the second mango tree planting event in June 2024.
Other efforts: Donated sofas and tables to schools, donated children's books and toys to children

Nikon Lao Co., Ltd. (Laos)
Nikon Lao Co., Ltd carried out cleanup activities around business facilities in May 2024.

Optos Plc (U.K.)
Optos Plc conducted grassland cleanup and local ecosystem protection activities in September 2024 at Fife Coast and Countryside Trust in the U.K. The company planted various bulbs, including daffodils, snowdrops, bluebells, alliums, and celandine. Other efforts: Encouraged carpooling for employee commutes during the week leading up to Zero Emissions Day, collected electronic waste on America Recycles Day
