Promoting Complete Elimination of Halogen-Based Solvents
We are taking initiatives to manage and reduce the use of hazardous chemical substances in order to realize a healthy and safe society. The Nikon Group has formulated the Hazardous Chemical Substances Guideline, and has established and uses management criteria for handling of chemical substances in accordance with risks to the environment and health and restrictions on inclusion of chemical substances in products. Regarding the use of chemical substances in manufacturing processes, in the year ended March 31, 2021 we focused on efforts to completely eliminate halogen-based solvents in the manufacturing process, and we completely eliminated the use of HCFCs. We are aiming to complete the replacement of dichloromethane by alternatives by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, and also we are aiming to reduce the use of HFCs by at least 85％ by 2036 in line with the reduction schedule announced by the Japanese government.
